What?!? Hold on! was my first reaction when I first heard about it... I AM ONLY 2, should I really be going to anything that includes the word 'school' in the title? Though once mummy explained what it was I felt much better about and I am now really looking forward to it. So preschool I am starting in September. Preschool is for 2-5 yo kids and it is not obligatory. The first obligatory grade in Canada is kindergarten, which you go to from 6 to 7 yo, it comes just before elementary school.
I started daycare when I turned 18 months because mummy got really busy with her work and felt it wasn't fair on me. I thought it was great and truly enjoyed it. I was only going 3 days a week but it was enough to socialise and make friends. Mummy is now on maternity leave enjoys having me at home with her and Georgia, so as a result I have barely gone to daycare this summer.
Mummy and daddy spoke and decided to take me out of daycare and registered me to a preschool near by. It is called 'Jardin d'enfants Beaurepaire preschool' and it is a parent-run cooperative. Mummy will get to be involve a lot more than daycare and will even have two 'duty days' a month on which she'll have to come help the teacher and bring snacks for all the little friends. She's very thrilled about it all as it is only two mornings a week, Thursday and Friday, and loves the fact that she gets to observe me in that environment.
Then from 3 to 4 yo it is 3 or 4 half days a week and from 5 to 6 yo it is 5 half days a week.
Mummy also wants to register Georgia and I to some playgroups with the 'Women's Centre' so here's my schedule for September onwards...
Monday: Physio/OT
Tuesday: Mother Goose 'story time' at the local library
Wednesday: Playgroup
Thursday and Friday: Preschool
Saturday: Swimming lesson
I cant wait!
